Promoting Assessment Literacy

At NWEA, our mission is to help all kids learn. We believe equipping teachers to be effective can help all students reach their potential – and we see assessment literacy as a path to equity in the classroom.

When educators told us they weren’t being sufficiently trained in assessment, we convened the National Task Force on Assessment Education in 2015. This expert advisory team provides thought leadership, advocacy, and recommendations to improve assessment literacy throughout the education ecosystem.

  • The Task Force aims to improve the national dialogue about the different uses of assessment and how to apply assessment data to support classroom learning.
  • They have helped to define assessment literacy, inform policy, and lead initiatives for teacher preparation programs. Meet the Task Force.
